Medicaid and Medicaid Home & Community-Based Services waivers are a lifeline for millions of people with disabilities (and others), providing essential healthcare, home and community-based services, and the supports needed to live community-based lives. Proposed cuts threaten these critical services, jeopardizing not only their health but access to the pleasures of working and living lives that resemble those of people not yet impacted by disability. Worse, these cuts will push tax-paying family members out of the workforce to become full-time caregivers and force layoffs of paid support staff which will harm America's economy. The Hands Off Medicaid Campaign is a national movement to mobilize advocates, families, and allies to fight back—everyone deserves access to the care and dignity they need to thrive as contributing Americans. Granite Staters can protect Medicaid in NH and contribute to the national narrative on why decision-makers must keep their Hands Off Medicaid.

Outreach to NH's Federal Congressional Delegation

Download the "5 Calls App" and call NH's congressional delegation daily. There is often a Medicaid focused script or you can share your personal thoughts.

Engage NH Governor Ayotte

1) Review our suggested list of questions in the Helpful Documents section below.

2) Using our template in Helpful Documents section (see below) -modify/personalize or author an email and/or letter to Governor Ayotte.

Outreach to NH Senators and Representative

Reach out to your NH Reps and Senator to have coffee and share what Medicaid means to you and your family. Send your story and ask members of the NH House Finance Div III Committee and NH Senate Finance Committee what their plans are for the Medicaid shortfall.

Share your Story

1) Write a Letter to the Editor that explains why Medicaid matters to you.

2) Follow our campaign on Facebook and Instagram and like/share our content to increase the viral engagement.

2) Share facts on your social media about Medicaid from trusted resources like DREDF, The Arc, the Kaiser Kennedy Foundation, Medicaid in NH fact Sheet; KFF's Putting the $880 in Potential Medicaid Cuts in Context.

Testify

March 12th, 2:00pm, the NH House Finance Committee holds it Budget Hearing, Reps Hall, State House. We are asking the NH House to support the Governor's budget which calls to fully fund disability services. Provide oral testimony in-person OR submit written testimony HERE. Join us on April 5th in Concord!

On April 5th, join US! The "Hands Off Medicaid" team will have a table at the " Hands Off" mobilize event in Concord, 12pm-5pm. Please join us as we collect letters to the Governor, create video stories, and share other actions you can take to demand the Feds to keep their Hands Off Medicaid.
